Recording sessions

I haven't been able to update for a few days, because my computers been at my dads work, where we set up a "studio" to record the band, in the hopes of recording an EP.
(which we're on the way to having done..only Lead tracks and Vocals to do now...and I'm really picky about vocals).

Any way, thought you might like to see some photos from the day (thanks to Gaz, a good friend of the band).

The studio (terrible photoshopping)

Le plan

this is leplan

1). Pick up gear from school, roughly 1530.
gear - Snare, cymbols
- Mics, stands, leads
- Stage piano (electric)
- Tamborine, egg shaker

2). Add it to the other gear, already waiting in car.
includes - Art rack effects unit
- Boss16 channel mixer
- Ensoniq Sampler keyboard
- Edirol midicontroller keyboard
- Computer, monitor
- both my amps
- Fender DG7, Crafter 335
- Steves bass
- Wills kit
- Stereo (for monitoring)

3). take the above to my dads work, in town, and set them up.

4). lay down drum tracks for hopefully 2-3 songs.

5). the next day, get into work nice and early, and record rythm tracks over the prerecorded drum tracks.

6). When Will gets back from work (1300) record remaining drum tracks, followed by rythm section tracks.

7). On the sunday, clean up any tracks, and mix.

8). Add lead tracks.

9). pack up all the gear, and return it to it's rightful owners.

10). print first EP.

So....that's not too ambitions for one weekend is it??

7 tracks...48hours.

"lets KICK this pig!"

P.S. I LOVE the school, they're letting us borrow so much stuff :)

need ideas

trying to get ideas for the soon to be recorded album cover.
it's really beginning to excite me this album thing...scar me too, but mostly just excite me.
hand in of this is really soon...so...recording this weekend! WooHoo!

I've managed to con my dad into letting us use work, which means plenty of space.
We're only allowed one weekend...and the guys have rehearsal for most of Sunday, which is extremely lame.
So hopefully we can work around that.

Any way, I don't really want to have the band on the cover, but inside the book might not be too bad.
so, if we do end up having a page each, here is my idea thus far for Wills page.

Enjoy

Jonny.

(I'll definitely be uploading shots from recording when I can)

recording

hello

So I've got to hand in my compositions, and their recording soon.
That happened fast.
Which means that we'll be recording soonish.
firstly I've got to find a place, and a time etc, and then it should be all good.
My computer finally worked, and my recording gear is happily buzzing away (after much prayer i have to admit).

Also, I have discovered that i'm using three amps on stage (why not).
one dedicated to lead, trebbily stuff with a tiny bit of overdrive, the other dedicated to bassy reverb stuff.
Sounds great with my Crafter 335 (hmmm....pretty. Name's Claire).

Oh, and the other dedicated to crappy digital effects (that way you still get a nice dry tone out of the other two...plus, i'll be running my RAT and CE-3 through the first two amps)

So any way, this means there will soon be Mp3s to download from some where of our music (massive weight off my back..so yay)

Any who, i've had very little sleep lately.
Sorry for the lazy posting.

I need rest..or coffee....either will do for the moment.

have a good'n

Jonny.

Practise - With three members

harlo

Todays practise was interesting.
Only thee of us could make it.
So we were there with, Steve Will and myself.

back story

Last year I was asked by the then head of arts, Emma Custon...cus..su....something like that.
To join a band, made of Will, Steve and Tim. this was in order to have something ready for RockQuest 2006.
So I did, and we called ourselves "ParkStoneProject". (namlingly becasue Steves house was on parkstone ave...and it's where we practised).
Any way, exams happened and I became a busy kid, so I couldn't be in the band any more.

Any way, in the time that we were together, we began writing a song that Will orignally came up with.
it was called "magnetic"
and the chorus wen't along the lines of;

"Cause my organs are magnetic girl, and you are my fridge."

Over a year on, and here's us in the garage it all started in, mashing out this song.

Enjoy.

Jonny.
