All welcome the new comers

The Knob!

Basically a wee boost pedal, designed to make it seem like I'm turning up the 12k, and pumping my guitar through a tiny drive, but it's a lie really.
it's just a limiter, but it's MY limiter...and I made her today :D
which makes me smile.

So heres what she looks like.

hope you like the name

The Reckoner

Ah man

okay it's finally hit

I have all of 16 days left in this country.

So many things in my head right now, and the only song that I can think of to kinda sum up how I feel, is The Reckoner from Radiohead's latest album In Rainbows (they have a song for every occasion).

I wish I could draw, so you could see my expression of excited depression as i sip out of my overly round glass. Wishing it was wine. Wishing it was cold. Wishing I could take my friends with me.

Dedicated to coming back, to leaving, to making good of it.
Enabled to all, but some how helpless.
it'll come too soon.
it'll come, that's the scary part.

i wish it wouldn't happen
but it'll be a one off experience
something I can't be me with out
I'll be changed

I know around the corner it'll be me
I know I'm me now, but I'll be different
some how
I hate good byes

it's only for a year,
it's not really good bye
no reason to hate it
no reason at all

Embrace what you have
make it work for you
let the change happen

it'll happen
nothing I can do now
but it's for the best
I'll enjoy it
but i'll miss you all

Hmm, might try writing that into a song
I was just kinda typing and seeing what came out...and that's what happened.

Any way, i must go plan my last 16 days

Honey I shrunk the AC30!

Jonny buys an amp

yeah I know..that's the fastest I think I've ever spent money...maybe
N..actually that's a lie.
But it's the fastest search I've ever had for something like this.

As soon as I blew my amp I knew I should pray for it, or me, or a new one..or one of the above.
So I did, and I asked that if I'm meant to have an amp next year, God would provide me with one, and when he did he'd make it painfully obvious that THIS was the one!

So after my cousins 21's last night I headed home, and jumped on trademe (just checking what was on).
And there, RIGHT in the top three on the latest listings was a Vox P10 pathfinder, an amp which i have kind of wanted for a while.
it's only a small thing, 10w solid state.
But it's vox and the quality is amazing for a little amp.
PLUS it's only 4kg, which will help with baggage weight when I move, plus it's in Chch AND it's in the exact price range I prayed for.

So, not seeing that this was THE amp that god had set up for me I prayed on it, and halfway through the sentence "..Please give me an over whelming sense of 'yes' if this is the one God..." I heard a very over powering voice yelling at me "HOW MUCH MORE OBVIOUS CAN I GET!"

So I opened my eyes, and clicked the buynow.

I should be picking it up today, hopefully.
it's a neat wee beast, and I am great full that God set up this deal so quickly, as my cousin has offered to take up my amp for me, but she leaves on Wednesday, so i was worried I wouldn't have time to get one before she left.

Thanks to this amp you can look forward to recordings of song ideas through out next year.

YAY

not one of my smarter moments

So, here I was this morning, bored to tears.
Then i think, you know what I could do to pass time, i could Mod my amp.
Basically make it so you can plug it into a cab and use it as a head unit.
Not that it would be of any use at all, because firstly I don't have a cab, and secondly it's a 10w Samic, which won't sound that good no matter what you do to it.

So I open my wee baby up, and have a look inside.
"oh yup," I say "shouldn't be too hard."
I grab the wires which connect the speaker to the amp and cut them (easy enough to get back into place).
I then solder them to a jack out (like that on the body of a guitar).
Using ground and negative, and the signal out as my positive.

I grab the other end of the wires and solder them onto a jack head, using again the ground as the neg, and the signal as the pos.
Thinking, when I put this jack into this input it'll be just like having the wires connected.

So I do this, and go to try it out.
I plug it in, and hook it upto a perfectly working cab (one of my dads oldies).
I go to flick the on switch, but it moves away from me. So I use my finger the secure the beast,
and my thumb to flick the switch.
BAM!...i'm now connected to the mains.
In NZ that's 240v

So that was fun.

I stand up as fast as I can, this takes me away from the shock and my arm only buzzes a little.

Now, i'm not sure exactly where I went wrong (I've run this whole thing in my head so many times)
but some where between opening up the amp, and plugging myself into the wall i went wrong.
And...sad to say, today was the day I blew up my first amp.

So yes, i am currently ampless again, which is lame.
So, if any one's got an amp they'd want to give me...I'm open for nearly anything right now.
How ever, if you have something that's like a 5w all tube deal that'd be good haha.

okay
Cheers for your pitty, as I hope your feeling right now.

Stevo and the gig

well as jonny will o doubt write about the gig this afternoon i thought i'd get in there first and add my two cents.

it actually went really well, a fair few people turned up and seemed to enjoy the music so claps for jonny and his organization and commitment to make all this happen (claps to computer screen for a few moments)

i have had some comments on the band that i shall pass onto you sometime as well jonny. i'll leave the rest of the narration of the gig to jonny as i'm sure he has a lot to say on the matter.

and btw, the band promo video should go up on this site sometime soon (won't it Jonny?... hint hint)

oh yeah, and i would like to extend the beforesaid congratulations to the rest of the band, you guys did great:)

stevo out

Jonny's talk;

Hello, I hijacked Steve's entry hehe (because apparently i can do that).
yeah the gig went really well, and it was a loooot of fun.

The video will be up here as the coming week's video of the week.

but yeah, everything just went right today..well, most things haha.
There was a point where Mr Morrow shot some smoke into the room, and as awesome as that is, it clogs up my throat, so during the next song I was kinda/really flat during the hard core bit, which wasn't so much fun to hear back haha.

Unfortunately the recording of it didn't work so well, so I'm not sure if the live DVD thing is possible as this stage, but I'll see what i can do.

but yeah, I'd just love to thank the band for being awesome...because you guys all are!

Oh and I've started writing for the next album, here's a taste of my latest song/start of a song thing;

The cameras on
Don't make your mistake
the cameras on
don't make your mistake

When you're you're all alone
there's no one to blame

The videos on
don't mess up now
they're watching you
in here some how

When you see your close
you'll hit the ground

The cameras on
the cameras on

Hope every one who saw it today had a good time, and I look forward to performing for you all again at some point (as do all the other guys I'm sure).

Confusion

Ah, I keep thinking that tomorrow is the gig.
It's so weird, I've woken up for the last three days thinking, "oh man! Playing tomorrow!" and of course a few seconds later I'm disappointed.
how ever! it's only one more sleep before we play, I are VERY excited.
I am excited cow...excited cow is excited.

This deserves a story.

Once upon a time there was a small cow, his name was Jolly the horse, a very suitable name for a cow really. but it was okay, because his parents didn't like him so much, which is why they gave him a name that people would point and laugh at him for.
Unfortunately for the parents Jolly The horse found great joy in the fact that even his name could bring a smile to the faces of his pares.
So Jolly would spend his days introducing himself to people, again and again, and as they laughed at his miss fortune, he would walk away with a smile on his face.

moral of the story is that a smile will make any bad situation seem like mere water, and you are the ducks back when you smile.

.....ah.....jonny.

YAY GIG!
